Kelly Clement, son of Todd Clement and Valerie Miano of Garyville, graduated from LSU.
Clement graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor in science degree in mechanical engineering. During the graduation ceremony, Clement was presented with two very distinctive awards for outstanding academic achievement. Clement was presented with the Edward McLaughlin Medal of Excellence, which is presented to the graduating student(s) in the College of Engineering with the highest grade point average. Clement was also presented with the University Medal for highest academic achievement as he maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during his entire college career. Clement was one of four students who accomplished this out of the 500 graduates in the College of Engineering.
While a student at LSU, Clement received several distinguished academic scholarships. He graduated from Riverside Academy in Reserve in May 2009. He began his college career at LSU in June 2009 as he was selected to participate in the LA-STEM, or Louisiana Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Research Scholars Program. The program required Clement to begin his college career right out of high school to serve as a transitional period from high school to college. He also received the LSU National Scholars Award Scholarship and TOPS Performance Award Scholarship.
After graduating from LSU, Clement spent a month in Europe where he visited the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Germany and Italy. Clement will begin his career as a facilities engineer with Shell Exploration and Production in New Orleans.
