Burglary suspect caught

LAPLACE – St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies nabbed the
suspect of several car burglaries in the Camelia Avenue area of LaPlace on Sunday evening.
Deputies responded to the 400 block of Camelia Avenue in LaPlace for the report of a subject trespassing on
the driveway of a
residence. Responding deputies located and arrested a subject matching the description of the perpetrator. The suspect was identified as Carlo Nicholas, 20, of Donaldsonville. He was booked
with criminal trespassing.
The Sheriff’s Office also received two
complaints of vehicle burglaries in the 500 block of Camelia Avenue the following morning. One victim reported a duffle bag containing a gold ring, prescription medication, identification cards and a set of keys stolen from a vehicle. The second victim reported a GPS navigator stolen from avehicle. There was no forced entry into either vehicle.
Based on the investigation and stolen property that was in Nicholas’ possession during booking, investigators also booked Nicholas with two counts of simple burglary and possession of stolen things. Nicholas’ bond is $50,500.
