LULING — United Way of St. Charles has granted more than $17,000 in funding to local childcare providers and non-profit organizations offering summer camps in St. Charles Parish.
“Education and health are two of our main focus areas. By supporting local summer programs, we can ensure the bodies and minds of our children stay active this summer,” stated UWSC director of community impact Kacy Kernan.
Summer scholarships were also awarded to individual campers.
“We’re very excited to offer kids the opportunity to participate in camps this summer,” stated Lily Galland, UWSC allocations committee chairperson. “Through United Way’s support, children who would have otherwise been at home all summer, now have a safe, fun place to turn their energy.”
The summer camp programs include focus areas of sports, self-esteem, wellness and other activities for children.
