CONVENT – The Office of Emergency Preparedness, in coordination with the Department of Health and Hospitals, conducted a full-scale exercise to administer the parish’s 48-hour mass antibiotic dispensing plan.
Participation from multiple entities, including local and state government, local law enforcement, first responders, volunteers and other parties, distributed flyers and other emergency preparedness related material throughout parts of St. James Parish.
“The main objective of the four-hour exercise was to determine the number of houses teams could cover and the number of people needed to distribute materials,” said St. James Parish President Timothy P. Roussel.
The plan includes distribution of antibiotics in the event of an actual pandemic emergency.
