LaPlace – In a testament to both the value and dedication of the River Parishes Tourist Commission, BP has once again awarded the organization with additional grants.
RPTC will utilize two grants, totaling $351,750, from the BP Gulf Tourism and Seafood Promotional Fund in its ongoing effort to promote attractions, restaurants, accommodations and venues within the River Parishes.
“RPTC is extremely pleased and gratified to receive additional grant money from BP,” said Board Chairman Paul Aucoin.
“These funds will go a long way in allowing us to add to our ongoing efforts of promoting and advertising the River Parishes. We have wonderful attractions in our area,” stated Aucoin, “and these grants will allow more people to discover them.”
RPTC will use an initial award of $254,750 to support several marketing projects including print advertisements, tradeshow booths and the promotion of local festivals to both national and international markets. A separate BP grant award of $97,000 will assist the Historic Riverlands organization with its implementation of an African American Interpretive music project housed in the original Our Lady of Grace Church.
The Gulf Tourism and Seafood Promotional fund is a part of BP’s efforts to help mitigate the economic impact of the 2009 oil spill.
