RESERVE – A 15-year-old boy was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday after he was found in possession of a gun on the campus of a local school.
The unidentified teen was taken into custody charged with juvenile possession of a firearm after another student at Riverside Academy told administrators he had been shown the weapon.
The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office told Pontchartrain Newspapers news partner WDSU the incident happened after school. They did not say whether the gun was loaded and there was no information regarding how it was obtained by the boy.
The boy was transferred to St. James Correctional Facility on Thursday.
He remained in custody as of press time.
