Frisco Festival today and tomorrow

GARYVILLE – A packed weekend of activities awaits attendees of all ages heading out to San Francisco Plantation in Garyville as the annual Frisco Fest kicks off today on the spacious grounds of the home.

Assorted food booths, more than 100 craft booths, music, tours, kids activities, a car show and more are on tap for the two-day festival, which begins bright and early at 8 a.m. with 25-mile and 40-mile bike tours of River Road and surrounding areas. Saturday will also feature a Top 25 car show at 9 a.m., a cracklin’ contest at 11:30 a.m. and music by Leroy St. Pierre.

On Sunday, a one-mile and a 5K run start the day, followed by music from St. Pierre once again, as well as Geno Delofose and the French Rocking Boogie from noon until 3 p.m.

Children’s activities, which will carry on both days, include a rock-climbing wall, a petting zoo, pony rides, a Eurobungee and more.

This year’s festival will also feature a special booth commemorating 100 years of history in Garyville.

The festival grounds will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day with free parking on site. Admission is $5 for adults and teenagers 13-17. Children 12 and under get in free.

Tours of the plantation home are also available for $10 all weekend long. Registration for the daily events can be completed on the morning of the event.

The plantation is located at 2646 Louisiana Highway 44 (River Road) in Garyville.
