Percy Harris Martin Sr., 93, passed away Saturday, Feb 4, 2012, at River Region Hospice in River Ridge. He was a graduate of Lutcher High School, a Catholic, a native of Grand Point and a farmer all of his life, mainly of sugarcane and perique tobacco.
The husband of the late Edith St. Pierre Martin, the father of Barbara Martin (Noel) Yambra, Percy H. Martin Jr., the late Robert D. Martin, Carol Martin (Carlton) Gautreau, Leo P. (Mary) Martin, Ray A. (the late Trudy) Martin, the late Amy M. Martin, Teddy J. Martin, the late Tammy Martin McClung, the late baby Edith Martin and the late Brian “Boo” Martin, son of the late Volture Martin and Louis Louque and brother of Doris M. St. Pierre, the late Jeanne M. Louque, Anna M. Bourgeois, Alice M. Keller, Rose M. Gifford, Ada M. Wilday and Lillian M. Duhe. He also had 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina with Fr. Vincent Dufresne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher.
