Friday morning shortly after 10 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a single vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 90 east at Melonie Street in St. Charles Parish.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Lincoln Town Car, driven by Cheryl Clay, 52, of Norco was traveling east on U.S. Highway 90 in the right lane, and for unknown reasons the Lincoln drifted off of the roadway and struck a tree. EMS rendered medical attention to Clay; however, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Clay was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and impairment is not suspected. Toxicology results are pending the outcome of an autopsy.
