KENNER — One of the most successful volleyball seasons in Destrehan history came to an end Thursday evening, as St. Joseph’s defeated the Wildcats in three games in the Division I state quarterfinals at the Pontchartrain Center, 25-18, 25-10 and 25-22.

Robin Sill collected 13 kills for Destrehan (39-6). Michelle Haydel had 19 digs, and Catherine Beck added 13 assists.

Audry Marsh led St. Joseph’s (32-10) with 13 kills. Jessie Thigpen had nine. Morgan Miller added 18 assists.

St. Joseph’s, the Division I state champion in 2009, truly took control of the match in game two, scoring 21 of the first 27 points.

Destrehan responded in the third game to push the Red Stickers, but a late two-point lead would not hold as St. Joseph’s scored the final five points of the game and the match.

The Wildcats entered the tourney as the third seed; St. Joseph’s the sixth.
