LAPLACE – A LaPlace man was booked on drug and weapons charges early last week after a search of his home uncovered illegal narcotics and a stolen handgun, according to authorities.

Kyren Creecy, 23, was arrested after St. John the Baptist Parish narcotics detectives executed a search warrant of his home in the 2400 block of Cambridge Drive.

Capt. Dane Clement, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said detectives initiated the investigation after receiving complaints from other residents of the area about possible illegal drug activity at the home.

During the search of the home.

Detectives seized crack cocaine with a street value of $540, along with a loaded semi-automatic handgun that had previously been reported stolen from another LaPlace resident. Detectives also seized more than $1,700 in cash from the home.

Creecy was booked and charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule II controlled dangerous substance, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled substance and possession of a stolen firearm.

He is currently being held at the Sherman Walker Correctional facility in LaPlace on a $35,000 bond.
