Gertrude Duhe Millet, 83, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in Vacherie.
She was the assistant postmaster in Destrehan for 20 years. She was a eucharistic minister for many years and ministered to the sick and shut-in. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and a recipient of the St. Louis Medal.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Madere (Dave) and Marilyn Jacob (Jake); one son, Clarence “Bub” Millet (Michele); four sisters: Electa Copponex, Elva Gagliano, Julia Sanchez and Betty Oswald; one brother, Milton Duhe; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Duhe and Elia St. Pierre; six brothers: Norman, Kenneth, Kramer, Allen, Lester and Claude Duhe; and three sisters: Odelia Louque, Doris Kollman and Alice Copponex.
Visitation and mass of Christian burial were held Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. Msgr. Harry Bugler was celebrant. Entombment followed at the St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.
