LAPLACE – Gov. Bobby Jindal’s parish-to-parish tour of Louisiana to promote a better future for the state and its children is making a return trip to the River Parishes this week with a stop in Destrehan Thursday afternoon.

Jindal will be speaking at the St. Charles Parish East Regional Library, located at 160 W. Campus Drive in Destrehan, in the large meeting room. Doors to the library will open at 1:45 p.m., and Jindal will begin speaking at 2 p.m.

The governor is scheduled to speak for about 40 minutes as part of his “Building a Better Louisiana for our Children” speaking tour.

Jindal’s appearance in Destrehan comes just a few weeks after a similar speaking stop made in St. John the Baptist Parish. The governor appeared at the National Guard Readiness Center in Reserve in early November.

Jindal’s speech is expected to focus on the state’s economic recovery and future growth. He will also touch on education initiatives designed to keep Louisiana children from leaving the state to pursue jobs and higher education.

A meet and greet with the opportunity to take pictures will follow the speech. For more information contact Toye Taylor at toye.taylor@la.gov.
