LAPLACE – Thanksgiving is traditionally a time to be spent with family, and here in the River Parishes that tradition remains strong, if results from L’Observateur’s latest online poll are any indication.
Last week, visitors to carpenter-media.go-vip.net.lobservateur.com were asked to share how they plan to spend Thanksgiving.
Nearly half said they plan to go to a relative’s house for the holiday. Of those respondents not going over the river and through the woods, over half said they would be hosting their own family gatherings.
Football and the holiday go hand in hand, and this Thursday, the grip will be even tighter as the Saints take on the Dallas Cowboys. Over 15 percent of voters said they plan to spend the holiday glued to the TV set for the big game.
Just over 10 percent of respondents said they just plan to spend a quiet day at home.
Lastly, while eating out is a Thanksgiving option that seems to be gaining in metropolitan areas, none of those who responded to the poll said they planned to eat out tomorrow.
A full breakdown of results follows:
• 42 percent of respondents chose “I will spend the day at a relative’s house.”
• 31 percent of respondents chose “I have family coming over for dinner.”
• 11 percent of respondents chose “I will spend a quiet day at home.”
• 0 percent of respondents chose “I plan to go out to eat.”
• 16 percent of respondents chose “I will be glued to the TV watching the Saints game.”
