Reward for senseless killing
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, October 6, 2010
This week I was going to write about a murder that took place in St. John Parish in the 1950s on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, but something happen that changed my mind and really made me mad, so I thought I would share this story with the readers.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about the animals that I have had through the years and how much you love your pets. Well, someone brought about 20 mallard ducks and about five mixed breed ducks to the Ruddock boat launch and let them go. For the past couple weeks the ducks have been swimming around the boat launch, visitors
have enjoyed feeding them and just watching them. The ducks were very tame and a beautiful sight swimming in the water.
As usual the first part of the week, I made a pass down to the boat launch to check on them and discovered that some cruel person had killed all 25 ducks and piled them up at the launch. If the person responsible for killing the ducks would have killed them for food because they were hungry, it wouldn’t have been as bad, but to kill them and place them in a pile makes my blood boil! The person responsible for killing these beautiful ducks would kill your pet if they had a chance.
I will personally give a $100 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person that did this. I am sure that other animal lovers would add to the reward. If you see anyone mistreating any animal or foul, please call the animal control or the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office to report the abuse. Please help me in locating the duck killers!
