The Port of South Louisiana recently participated in the FBI’s comprehensive integrated training exercise.

Lester Millet III, PSL’s policy and planning director, assisted the FBI with a waterborne tour of the PSL’s critical infrastructure about its state-of-the-art security vessel, the PSL Responder.

The training exercise, coordinated by the federal government and organized by SA Roger Tomberlin, SSA Joseph “Bruce” Adamo and SA Carla VanLandingham, was held in New Orleans.

The three-day event consisted of two full days of “lessons learned” and “best practices” from Israeli and Dutch police departments and culminated with a tabletop exercise.

The participating local first responders worked in groups of six to encourage open dialogue regarding proactive procedures in the event of future deliberate man-made incidents: prevention, preparation, response and recovery.

This counter-terrorism exercise was well attended, with over 100 participants representing local, state, federal and private stakeholders throughout the state of Louisiana.
