LULING – Monsanto’s Luling Plant hosted a volunteer fair to launch its new community volunteer program, “Monsan–

together.”

The program, which was launched in the United States on June 17, is designed to enhance and increase the current volunteer efforts of Monsanto employees, as well as encourage new volunteer initiatives. Not only does the program recruit volunteers but also allows employees to request grants to be presented to the organizations for which they volunteer. Through the program, Monsanto will match an employee’s 20 hours of volunteer service with a $250 grant to a qualifying charitable organization. Employees are entitled to request up to two grants a year. A team of four or more can also work together to generate a $5,000 gift.

Lindsey Landry, Monsanto HR generalist and community outreach coordinator, said, “This is such an amazing new program that Monsanto is proud to offer. We have always had a great volunteer presence in our local communities, and now we can bring even more to the community in the form of grant money.”

The Volunteer Fair was held in the plant’s auditorium during shift change to allow all employees the opportunity to participate. In total over 100 employees visited the fair

where they were able to learn about volunteer opportunities from organizations such as

the St. Charles Parish School System, St. Charles Parish Humane Society, The ARC of

St. Charles, Junior Achievement and many more. Anne Bates of the American Cancer Society had this to say about the event, “We truly enjoyed visiting with the employees at the Monsan-

together Volunteer Fair. It gave us the opportunity to share our organization’s mission and volunteer opportunities on a more one-on-one basis.”
