Life on this Earth doesn’t last

When you’re my age (75), you reflect more on the past than project for the future. The other day, I was thinking about my mother’s and father’s families. My mother was one of six children, and my father was one of eight. I remember the regular visits to each one and how we enjoyed many holidays together. Today, they are all deceased, except one of my dad’s brothers, who is 85.
In the early years of my life, it seemed like those times would never end, but today they are only memories. I have contact with only a few of my relatives.
The Bible says that life is but a vapor; it doesn’t last long.
One day, when Jeanne and I are gone to be with the Lord, our children will remain for only a short time, and then their probation period on earth will be over. Their children will move on with their lives, but I pray they will stay in touch with each other and remember the good times that God has blessed us with.
As I write this article, I’m reminded that we should seize the moment and enjoy each day and each other, building relationships that will last for the rest of our lives.
Having reflected, I now want to project my concerns.
A few months ago, I told my friend, Danny Louque, that I pray when my time comes, I can face death without fear. I would not want to be a wimpy Christian, talking about my eternal reward and being afraid to die and spend eternity with my loving, Heavenly Father.
I believe that a Christian’s fear of death will destroy any godly witness they may have had.
