HAHNVILLE – A one-vehicle accident along River Road on the west bank of St. Charles Parish late Monday claimed the life of a Hahnville man, according to a release from State Police.

Trooper Melissa Matey, a spokesperson for State Police Troop B, said Irving C. Aucoin, 46, was killed after he lost control of his pickup on River Road just after 11 p.m. Irving was ejected from the truck after it overturned.

Investigators said Aucoin, who was alone in the truck, was traveling east on River Road near Keller Street and was unable to negotiate a curve in the road. His truck left the highway and overturned on the side of the road. He was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Luling where he later died.

According to a report from State Police, Aucoin was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Authorities also say excessive speed and alcohol impairment were factors in the crash. Matey said the incident is still under investigation.
