SPECIAL REPORT
The River Parishes CASA program announced the induction of 13 new CASA volunteers by Judge Lauren Lemmon. The CASA volunteers will serve the St. Charles and St. John parishes advocating for a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible. Lemmon joined the Child Advocacy Services staff and welcomed the CASA volunteers to the program. She issued certificates for their completion of training and court observation and engaged in conversation and answered questions from the CASA volunteers. The swearing-in ceremony was followed by dinner at Sailfish restaurant. Lemmon thanked the volunteers for their commitment to serve as a volunteer for the River Parishes CASA program. She expressed her excitement and willingness to work with the volunteers in the juvenile court system. The CASA volunteer training class, held February 2 through February 19, was the largest class of volunteers to be sworn-in by the CAS staff in the River Parishes. This was also Judge Lemmon’s first swearing-in of CASA volunteers after being appointed Judge in January 2009.
