LUTCHER – The St. James Parish School Board voted to approve the recommended appointments to fill three positions in the Service Office during its Tuesday, Feb. 10 meeting. Vondra Etienne-Steib was named as the Director of Special Education

and Mandy Boudwin and Debra Chiasson will join the staff as high school Curriculum

Facilitators for Math and Science and English, Language Arts and Social Studies respectively.

Both facilitator positions are new to the system.

Etienne-Steib is a native of St. James Parish and is currently the Assistant Principal of East St. John High School in Reserve, La. She holds a Master’s Degree with Plus-30 Graduate Hours from Nicholls State University (NSU), where she received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree. Her appointment is effective March 2. She will replace longtime SJPS employee Pamela Zeringue, who contributed more 33 years of service to SJPS.

Boudwin is currently in her tenth year as a math teacher at Lutcher High School. Like Etienne-Steib, she holds both an undergraduate and Master’s degree from NSU. She received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education and Master’s of Education in Administration and Supervision. She will complete the school year at LHS and join the service office as the Curriculum Facilitator for Math and Science on May 27.

With 28 years of professional experience, Chiasson will assume her post as the SJPS

Curriculum Facilitator for English, Language Arts and Social Studies on March 2. She

spent the past three years with the Louisiana Department of Education Region III Center

as the LINCS Regional Coordinator. She also worked as a Curriculum Facilitator for

the Lafourche Parish School Board from August 1995 to May of 2005. Chiasson holds a

Master’s Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction with a Bachelor’s Degree in

Elementary Education both also from NSU.

“We are pleased to have three outstanding professionals join our team of educators,”

Superintendent Dr. Alonzo Luce said. “We want to build a strong support team that compliments

the rigor of our curriculum as well as teachers and school administrators and we are

fortunate to be joined by individuals who possess the characteristics to accomplish this.

I’d like to personally thank and applaud Pam Zeringue for her dedication and service to St.

James Parish School System.”

Additionally, the board recognized the parish’s Student’s of the Year during the meeting.
