LAPLACE – A two-vehicle crash in Terrebonne Parish Monday evening claimed the life of a Vacherie woman, according to a release from Louisiana State Police.
Brianne Gros, 20, was killed when her 2000 Nissan Maxima collided with a Mack Fuel Truck, driven by Gerrold Williams, 42, of Houma. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of St. George Road and Main Project Road in Schriever, La., said Trooper First Class David Anderson.
According to a release from state police, Gros was traveling westbound on St. George Road when she approached the intersection at Main Project Road. Gros failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign at the intersection and entered the path of Williams’ truck, which was traveling northbound on Main Project Road. The truck, which was empty at the time of the crash after just dropping off its remaining fuel, slammed into the driver’s side of Gros’ vehicle. Gaubert’s Oil Company of Thibodaux owns the truck.
Anderson said Gros was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. His release states that she and Williams, who was not injured in the crash, were both wearing seat belts. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
Anderson said alcohol is not being considered a factor in the crash, but a blood test was conducted on Gros as required by Louisiana law. Those results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge. Williams was administered and passed a Breathalyzer test at the scene. No charges have been filed in the accident.
