LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John are looking for three suspects in an armed robbery at a LaPlace apartment.
The victim in the attack, a 23-year-old LaPlace man whose name was not released, suffered a fractured eye socket when a struggle took place, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Maj. Mike Tregre. The victim was taken to River Parishes Hospital, where he was treated and released, Tregre said
According to a report on the incident, the victim was at home in his apartment in the 900 block of Linda Lane, when a man armed with a shotgun and dressed in dark clothing knocked on the apartment’s door sometime around 8:30 p.m. When the suspect demanded money from the victim, the victim grabbed the shotgun and a struggle ensued.
The victim made it out the front door, but was confronted by the two other accomplices in the robbery. The victim described one of the suspects as a black male with dreadlocks and wearing a white t-shirt. The victim could not describe the third suspect.
The report goes on to say that the victim was able to escape the suspects and flag down a passing motorist, who brought him to the hospital for treatment.
Tregre would not elaborate on what was taken from the apartment and said the investigation is still ongoing.
Anyone with any information on the robbery is asked to contact the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-6338. Detective Will Stelly is the lead investigator in the case.
