LAPLACE – Due to the ever-changing schedule of work crews trying to clean up debris across two states, St. John Parish officials announced the opening of a drop-off site where residents can bring green debris for disposal.
St. John Public Information Officer Buddy Boe said the drop-off site, which is only for tree branches, limbs and leaves, is opening at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Reserve Boat launch.
“This is being done to allow residents who have the means to get debris off of their lawns at their own schedule,” Boe said. “We have had to deal with crews being sent off to Texas to help out there, so this will help us keep up with the high demand.”
Boe said the site would be open for a week, starting Wednesday. Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Boe said crews would still be canvassing the streets to pick up debris door-to-door for residents who are not in a hurry to get rid of their storm debris.
