Popular ‘Musical’ at St. James Community Theatre

LUTCHER – For most high school students, the school year ended a few weeks ago. But for a group of young thespians with St. James Community Theater, class is still in session as they get ready for opening night of “Disney’s High School Musical” Thursday, June 19 at Lutcher High School.
Starring in the lead roles of Troy and Gabriella are Jimmy Dornier, a recent graduate of Lutcher High School who will be attending Loyola University on a music scholarship, and Meryl Waguespack, valedictorian of the 2008 class at Riverside Academy, who will be a scholarship student at Nicholls University in the fall. Colby Chabaud, a graduate of Ascension Catholic High and LSU will star in the role of Ryan, while Clarissa Guidry, a student at St. Charles Catholic, will play the role of Sharpay.
Other cast members include Aston Williams as Chad, Haley Jeandron as Taylor, Paige Bourgeois as Kelsi, Ricky Poché, Jr. as Zeke, Hannah Waguespack as Martha, and Drake Duhon as Jack Scott. The various roles of “Cheerleaders”, “Jocks”, “Brainiacs” and “Skater Dudes” will be played by Darren Johnson, Hannah Guidry, Daras Johnson, Davi Clement, Mary-Lynn Detillier, Ashley Louque, Kailie Poché, Brandi Sieber and Tara Petit. Going head-to-head as the Coach and Drama Teacher are Ernie Sieber and Mandy Sieber Boudwin.
Performances are schedule for June 19, 20, 21, 22, 27 and 28. All performances start at 7:00 p.m., with the exception of Sunday, June 22, which will be at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Roussel’s Gifts and Antiques in Gramercy or at the door on show dates. All performances will be at the Lutcher High School Auditorium, 1910 W. Main Street in Lutcher. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for children. For more information, visit www.stjamestheater.org.
