A combined love of math and children led Shannon Smith to the teaching profession. And while, of course, teaching her students the required lessons is one of her goals, she knows that an equal if not bigger part of her job is to instill in her students a sense confidence that will allow them to “stand on their own two feet.” She aims to be an effective and memorable teacher, a goal she has certainly accomplished.
