The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board publicly recognized Dr. Janel Bailey Wheeler, a 1990 graduate of West St. John High School, at its January meeting as the first inductee into the school district’s Hall of Distinction.

The Hall of Distinction honors outstanding alumni of the parish’s public school system. Wheeler is a clinical assistant professor at Xavier University’s College of Pharmacy, where she graduated in 1996, receiving her doctorate degree of pharmacy. She actively participates on a number of committees for the school, and she chairs the Faculty Recruitment Committee, which identifies potential faculty candidates, schedules their interviews and makes hiring recommendations to the Dean’s Office.
