Riverside Coach Mickey Roussel has said that his Riverside offense has “no excuse” to not score points in 2007.
On Friday night, it didn’t need one.
The Rebels piled up 445 yards of total offense and running back Jarid Caesar scored three touchdowns as Riverside defeated Pine, 41-18.
“Offensively, we had a great night,” Roussel said. “We were balanced, really couldn’t have played better on that side.”
Overall, Caesar rushed for 96 yards on 16 carries. He also tallied six receptions for 58 yards. Quarterback Jade Falgoust led the team in rushing with 106 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. He completed 10 of his 13 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown.
Caesar jumpstarted the scoring with a 1-yard plunge in the first quarter to put the Rebels ahead 7-0. Riverside would add another touchdown before the end of the quarter, this time through the air, as Falgoust found running back Nick Moock for a 19 yard touchdown to make it 14-0.
Pine answered early in the second quarter, but missed the extra point, cutting lead to 14-6. Caesar scored again from 1 yard out to extend the lead to 21-7, before Pine scored again and missed the two-point conversion attempt. Riverside led 21-12 at half.
In the third quarter, the Rebels exploded for 20 points, effectively putting pine away. Touchdown runs by Caesar and Falgoust extended the lead to 35-18, and a Falgoust 23-yard pass to Remi Poirrier was the final scoring strike of the game.
Defensively, Poirrier and Falgoust each had an interception.
