Major meth bust made in LaPlace

Operation said to span from River Parishes through Jefferson and Orleans parishes

LAPLACE – Authorities captured an alleged drug trafficker thought to be part of a methamphetamine operation spanning the Jefferson, Orleans and the River Parishes in a June 5 sting that yielded approximately $8,000 in methamphetamines, according to the St. John Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Narcotics.

Detectives executed a search warrant at 712 La-Salle Dr. in LaPlace after a lengthy investigation and peacefully arrested the alleged drug trafficker Todd Borne, 44 , and his wife Michele Borne, 34, both of 712 La-Salle Dr., and captured 70 grams of methamphetamines with an estimated street value of $8,000.

Agents booked Todd Borne at the St. John Correctional Center with a $69,000 bond for intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of over 28 grams of methamphetamine and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Michele Borne was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule four controlled dangerous substance and two counts of possession of schedule three controlled dangerous substance and is being held at the St. John Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond.

Authorities are familiar with Todd Borne’s alleged drug trafficking, having arrested him 12 times – thrice for narcotics-related incidents. His extensive criminal history includes a 1995 arrest in St. John Parish for two counts of possession with the intent to distribute both marijuana and methamphetamine, a 2000 arrest in St. James Parish for possession with intent to distribute schedule two controlled substances and in 2001 for possession of amphetamines.

St. John Parish detectives are continuing to investigate Southeastern Louisiana’s methamphetamine operations in conjunction with other local and federal law enforcement entities.
