LAPLACE – The only thing beaming more than coach Frank Monica after this one was the newly installed lighting system that St. Charles erected this week.

The St. Charles defense has so far ranked among the best in the region, giving up just one touchdown in week two against Ponchatoula. That Comet coverage lived up to their reputation last Friday night in LaPlace, giving up just their second touchdown of the season while taking a 41-6 win over Pine.

The Comets pounced early on in this one, going up 27-0 by halftime. Jonathan Cancienne took a dozen handoffs for 92 yards and two touchdowns as SCC’s leading rusher.

Chase Fletcher brought in four receptions for 77 yards, including TDs of 21- and 1-yards.

Phillip Sutton was 5-for-8 from the quarterback position, passing for 85 yards and two TDs.

The Comet defense played a big part throughout, forcing five turnovers and limiting Pine to 62 yards rushing total. Defensive back Justin Vicknair highlighted his side of the ball with a 98-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter of play.

SCC goes to 4-0 on the season with the win heading into a River Parishes meeting this Friday at WSJ.
