LAPLACE — A rain delay postponed the final outcome of the Larayo at Belle Terre match-up last Monday in the River Parishes Swim League with the Barracudas holding a 73-35 lead. The meet has been set to resume this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Despite forecasts for clear skies, a thunderstorm skirted the LaPlace area after the freestyle events had been completed, and forced a delay towards the end of the backstroke competition. Swimmers were called out of the pool for a 30 minute wait after several strikes of lightening and thunder that came around 8:45 p.m. The swimmers looked to be resuming on several occasions, but meet officials decided instead to postpone when the weather showed signs of possibly worsening.

When competition resumes, the teams will pick up where they left off in the final age groupings for the backstroke before moving on to the breaststroke. Both teams will be on a quick turnaround as each has a meet scheduled on that Monday with another on Thursday evening. Larayo is set up to first face Ellington in an away meet while Belle Terre will be seeing Sun Villa at home. Full results will be published next Saturday for these meets.
