Reserve Christian’s Eagles rolled through the Rumble in the Red Stick Shootout in Baton Rouge this weekend, taking the championship home after defeating Christian Life’s Kittens 55-53 Saturday night.
The finals match-up came down to the final seconds when Christian Life’s Donald Williams, but he went for the win with a three-pointer that rattled out of the rim. The Kittens had led throughout the game and had pulled ahead by five late in the third before Demond “Tweetie” Carter and Eddren McCain stepped it up in the fourth quarter to take the lead. It started with a pair of steals by McCain that set up a five point run that tied it up at 41-41. The Kittens pulled back ahead on a jumper by Jeremy Ferguson, but Carter sank a three to take a one-point lead that the Eagles would never give up.
