RESERVE– Riverside’s boys squad has been coming around lately, recording three straight victories to bump up their season record to 5-9 while the Lady Rebels dropped a match to West St. John’s Lady Rams this week in a 55-36 final.

The boys’ game found the Rebels down early in the game, but well within reach throughout. A fourth quarter surge tied it up to force overtime where the teams traded scores, each scoring seven points. That forced a second overtime, where Riverside held the Saints to four points for the eventual win, 56-53.

Jarid Caesar was unstoppable for the Rebels, posting a game high 30 points while senior Robert Tamplain added 14.

Riverside’s boys squad is scheduled to get back to work on Tuesday when they start a home stretch against Fisher. That game will be followed by matches against St. John-Plaquemine on Friday and St. James next week to open district play.

In the girls game on Tuesday, the Lady Rebels traveled into Edgard to play the Lady Rams at WSJ. There, Riverside fell behind in a difficult second quarter where they were able to score only four points and had trouble stopping the West St. John offense from scoring. The Lady Rams made it look worse than it really was with a 26-16 run in the final quarter for a 55-36 win.

The Lady Rebels will next face St. Charles this Tuesday in a district match. The Lady Rams will next take on Belle Chase this weekend.
