BATON ROUGE– West St. John had a tall order to fill when they were matched up against second-seeded Bethany in the Class 1A bi-district round of the playoffs, and struggled throughout in the road game.
Bethany’s Lion squad took the win in three straight sets in dominating fashion.
Opening with a statement in the very first game, Bethany flew to a 25-2 victory and deflated the Lady Rams hopes of a competetive start.
West St. John managed to crack onto the scoreboard a bit more in the second and third games, but dropped them both by scores of 25-12 and 25-15 to finish up their season.
“Our girls were very disappointed with this loss,” said WSJ Coach Glenda Mattos, “but I this was they’re first time making it to the playoffs and they didn’t know what to expect. It was just a little lack of experience. But I told my girls that they represented us well and they should hold their heads up because we’ll be back at it next year.”
