Daron Bartholomew’s six TDs guide Rams in 51-12 victory

DONALDSONVILLE- “The team felt good coming into the game so we had to step it up and play hard.” Rams quarterback, Olajuwon Hall stated of the 51-12 victory over the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs.
The 13th ranked Rams (5-3, 5-0) finished their regular season Thursday night, defeating the 19th ranked Bulldogs (4-4, 3-2) to remain undefeated in district play for four straight years.
“We work hard and keep trying to better ourselves.” Daron Bartholomew stated of the Rams continued success.
Bartholomew led the ground attack by rushing for more than 160 yards to post six touchdowns. Josh Johnson and Therial Reese contributed to the ground game by combining for 180 more yards.
Hall completed six of seven passes for 141 yards and scored one touchdown of his own. Jessie Silas led the Rams defensively with seven tackles and one sack.
“I feel pretty good how we ended the season,” Coach Laury Dupont said after the game. “You always have to feel good when you win district and we’re very pleased.”
In the first quarter, the Bulldogs held possession of the ball for the first eight minutes, but were unable to capitalize and were forced to punt. Twenty-nine seconds later the Rams would get the ball back off of a turnover, and with 3:21 remaining in the first quarter, Bartholomew rushed into the end zone from the ten-yard line scoring his first touchdown. Following a recoved a fumble from the Bulldogs Nolan Thibodaux, Bartholomew again found room, going 28-yards into the end zone late in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Bartholomew found the end zone yet again, this time from the fourteen-yard line, with 7:51 remaining in the half thanks, in part, to another Bulldog turnover.
The bulldogs gained motivation when Warren Couch finally found the end zone on a one-yard burst up the gut, with 3:20 remaining before the half for a 24-6 Rams lead.
Bartholomew quickly retaliated though, again finding the end zone, with 59 seconds remaining in the half to put the Rams up 31-6.
The third quarter brought some excitement as Bartholomew posted his fifth touchdown on a 40 yards run just 32 seconds into the second half.
Hall soon furthered the lead, connecting with Tiarus Jenkins on a 45-yard pass for a touchdown later in the third.
With 2:08 remaining in the third quarter, Bartholomew put in his final score, rumbling in from the ten-yard line for the final Ram touchdown for the evening. The Bulldogs were able to score again on a Marlon Dominique gash for 45 yards with 33 seconds remaining in the quarter.
The Bulldogs tried to capitalize again in the fourth quarter, but the Rams defense was able to force ato punt. The Rams were able to grind out the clock to finish the game with a convincing 51-6 final.
