ESJ girls 3-0 in district

RESERVE – East St. John’s girls’ volleyball team logged an important third district win Saturday by holding off Hahnville in four games, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-20. The Lady Tigers won the third game 25-18 to force a fourth game.
The Lady Wildcats 6-5 star Ashlee Cooper dominated, nailing home 17 kills and adding five blocks. Darielle Sanders added eight kills to go with a team-leading 16 digs. Diana Lainez led East St. John with 15 assists and three aces.
On Hahnville’s side, Ashonta Pryor picked up nine kills, seven digs and four assists. Shunta Isaac co-led the team in kills with nine, while Danielle Dugas led in digs with eight. Ashley Dufrene added 20 assists.
East St. John will be in action this Wednesday when they travel to Baton Rouge to take on the Dunham School, and Saturday will host the annual Cat Scratch Tournament in Reserve.
