RIDGEWOOD-Tied at seven in the game’s final inning, Riverside’s Lee Haydel’s game-winning bunt single that scored Nick Falgoust and gave the Rebels a 10-9 victory over Ridgewood on Wednesday night.
Senior-to-be right-hander Jordan Poirrier picked up the win on the mound for the Rebels in relief.
Starter Wade Delaneuville left the game early with an injury, but it is not expected to make the right-hander miss any time.
“Wade said after the game that his forearm was just sore,” Riverside Head Coach Steve Stropolo said. “I don’t think that it is anything to get worried about.”
With the regular season starting to wind down, Stropolo said that he likes what he has seen out of his squad.
“I think overall, the summer went pretty much the way I thought it would go,” Stropolo said. “It’s the summertime. A lot of times we were relaxed and we played that way. Other times we play hard. Pitching wise I know exactly what we have and that is a big thing for me.”
