NEW ORLEANS-With their game against Hahnville postponed until a later date, Grace King was the only game on the schedule for the St. Charles Catholic-based Cretin Homes squad.
Let’s just say they had an undefeated week.
Behind the hitting trio of Matt Heltz, Chris Waguespack and Kyle Olasin the Comets defeated Grace King, 12-2.
The game was called before the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule.
Ace right-hander Michael Oncale was the winning pitcher for the Comets.
“It was another big win for us,” Comets Head Coach Paul Waguespack said. “The big thing for us was that Michael only threw 44 pitches. That allows him to come back to pitch in the game against Hahnville. That’s a big game for us.
“It was a bit of an unusual game. We started late; the umpires were running late. We just came out and scored the runs that we needed to so we could jump out in front of them (Grace King).”
Perhaps the biggest news coming out of Cretin Homes is the fact that they picked up a win without ever having to play a game. Ridgewood is forced to forfeit all of its games this season due to not abiding by American Legion rules. The Ridgewood win makes the Comets 12-2 overall and 10-2 in district.
