DESTREHAN-It was a teachable moment game.
The lesson: You have to bring it every day and every game if you expect to be competitive and win.
Destrehan learned that lesson on Saturday afternoon when they took on Central Lafourche. Going up against the soon-to-be district champion of 6-5A, the Lady Wildcats were defeated 7-2.
The loss drops Destrehan to 17-7-3 overall and all but assures the district title for Central Lafourche with a 10-1 district record.
Julianne Beaugh took the loss in the circle for Destrehan, going all seven innings and allowing seven runs and striking out five.
Kaci Brady and Shannon Clark were the big hitters for the Lady Wildcats. Brady finished the game 2-3 and Clark had a solo homerun.
“It was a disappointing performance,” a disappointed Russell Shaw said. “We felt like we were capable of scoring more runs but we could never put the hits together. I am happy that we never quit though.”
The Destrehan Head Coach said his ace Beaugh did not have her best stuff against Central Lafourche.
“They (Central Lafourche) are playing very well right now,” Shaw said. “They beat Hahnville 10-2. We are just catching them at a time when they are peaking. We are going to learn from this game and use the experiences in the future and hopefully be successful.”
