BOUTTE-After what seems like an eternity of success at Rummel High School, Frank Cazeaux knew it was time for a change.

So one of the of winningest coaches in the New Orleans area left Archbishop Rummel and applied for the job as Head Baseball Coach at Hahnville High School.

Now Cazeaux is heading one of the most talented teams in the area that returns several key starters at nearly every position.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to coach at Hahnville,” Cazeaux said. “I was at Rummel for 12 years and it was just time for me to move on.

“Since day one they have welcomed me here with open arms. The kids, the faculty, the administration and just the entire community has been fabulous. I have only been here for a couple of months and I have already enjoyed my stay.”

Cazeaux said he is excited to have such a senior-heavy ballclub.

“I am trying to build a baseball program year in and year out,” Cazeaux said. “I told our kids that our goal is not to win the district championship this year, our goal is to play for the state championship year in and year out.

“We want to be recognized as one of the top programs in the State of Louisiana. That’s my goal. That is what I am looking to try and do.”

Known heavily for their dominant football program, Cazeaux said Hahnville has the chance to have just as special of a baseball team.

“The talent is pretty good here,” Cazeaux said. “It is a loaded baseball team this year. We are loaded with a lot of senior ballplayers. I am going in there with my philosophy as a coach and the kids are starting to adjust to that.

“They had not ran a lot the last couple of years or bunted that often. That is the style of play that I am going to bring. We are going to manufacture runs and get them playing a very aggressive style. That is my coaching philosophy.”
