Rebels brace for Warriors

RESERVE — Oakdale brings a 5-5 overall record with it to Riverside Academy Friday night, but don’t let the mediocre record fool you.
“Oakdale is 5-5, but they competed in what is probably the toughest Class 2A district in the state,” Riverside head coach Mickey Roussel said. “They’re a power-type football team that runs the ball about 80 percent of the time. They have a couple of good backs and a large offensive line.”
The Rebels finished in second place in District 10-2A with a 4-1 record. Riverside lost its season finale to West St. John, which ended up taking the league crown win a 5-0 mark. Before that affair, the Rebels had run off seven consecutive victories.
“We’re playing well right now, and I think the fact we’re playing at home Friday will be an advantage for us,” Roussel said.
Gametime is scheduled for 7 p.m.
