DHS thumps Tarpons, 46-21

DESTREHAN – The dynamic trio of Jai Eugene, Chris Bullock and Edwin Reed continued to dominate the DHS Fighting Wildcats on the field, cleaning up on the South Lafourche Tarpons, 46-21.
South Lafourche scored first on a halfback pass in the first quarter, but Destrehan snapped back with two TDs of their own – a 3-yard run by Bullock and a 12-yard pass reception from Eugene to Reed, giving DHS a 13-7 lead.
Bulock scored in the second quarter on a 19-yard run, but the Tarpons came back with a 2-yard run to make the halftime score 20-14 in favor of Destrehan.
In the third, Eugene nailed Josh Martin on a 63-yard pass for a touchdown, bumping the score to 27-14. The Tarpons came back with a 71-yard run for a TD, keeping in the game, 27-21.
Kyle Tizzard then nailed a 45-yard field goal to bump the Wildcats to a 30-14 lead.
In the fourth, DHS linebacker Durrell Hutchinson recovered a fumble for a touchdown for a 37-21 lead.
This was followed by a safety and then a 45-yard strike from Eugene to Reed for the final 46-21 tally.
Bullock carried 16 times for 132 yards and two TDs. Reed had three receptions for 67 yards and two TDs. Martin had four receptions for 91 yards and a TD. Eugene was 11 of 18 for 216 yards and two TDs.
