Lady Comets thumped by E.D White

The St. Charles Catholic Lady Comets won their first game against E.D White Thursday afternoon, but dropped the next three to the Lady Cardinals, losing 27-25, 10-25, 20-25 in a district 7-III match at Comet Gym.
St. Charles Catholic looked sharp in the first game. With the Lady Comets leading 24-20, E.D White went on to tie the score 24-24. A return error by the Lady Cardinals gave SCC a 25-24 lead.
E.D White, however, went on to tie the game at 25 thanks to a St. Charles Catholic return error. Then the Lady Comets scored two straight points to win game one.
Things got off to a rough start for the Lady Comets in the second game. EDW jumped out to a quick 9-1 lead and never looked back. Lady Cardinals server Samantha Picou served three aces during the 9-1 run.
E.D White’s 9-1 lead later was a 15-8 lead after a kill from SCC starter Kayla Rebaldo. The closest the Lady Comets could get in the second game was five. A return error by E.D White made the score 16-11 EDW.
A serving error by St. Charles Catholic gave E.D White the victory in the second game, tying the match 1-1.
The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the third game. Numerous return errors by the Lady Comets gave E.D White a five-point lead. However,
St. Charles Catholic came back to pull within one, 9-8.
With the Lady Comets trailing 15-10, E.D White began to pour it on.
A 10-0 run that was highlighted by four aces from E.D White server Brock Ingo led to a 25-10 romp in the third game. Her final ace gave the Lady Cardinals the victory.
The Lady Cardinals, in game four, picked up right where they left off, jumping out to a 5-1 lead. EDW held a 9-4 lead after a kill from Picou, outside hitter.
St. Charles Catholic bounced back thanks to the serving from Angelle Cupit. The Lady Cardinals saw their 9-4 lead quickly evaporate. The Lady Comets held a 10-9 lead when the Lady Cardinals went on an 8-0 run to grab a 17-10 lead.
During the run, the Lady Comets committed five return errors.
In addition, at one point during the fourth game the Lady Cardinals outscored SCC 12-2.
Two consecutive kills by Lacey Boudreaux and Picou made the score 21-12 E.D White.
With the Lady Cardinals one point away from victory, St. Charles Catholic went on a 5-0 run to grab a 24-20 lead. A kill by Aimee Vicknair gave the Lady Cardinals the victory.
The loss dropped St. Charles Catholic to 10-12 on the season, 2-2 in district play.
E.D White on the other hand upped its record to 12-10 overall and 4-0 in district.
SCC plays this afternoon.
