ANDERSON
VACHERIE – Georgiana Jasmin Anderson, 83, a native of Wallace and resident of New Orleans, died Sept. 30. She was the mother of Barbara Pittman, Preston Poche Jr., Brenda and thornton Anderson Jr.
She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m., at Woodville Baptist Church, Wallace, with interment at First Baptist Cemetery, Vacherie. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
BRAUD
NORCO – Pearl Brady Troxler Braud, 96, a resident of Norco, died Oct. 5. She was the wife by first marriage of the late herbert Troxler and by second marriage of the late Bagley Braud.
She was also the daughter of the late Charles and Leila Brady and sister of the late Agnes Hotard, Judith James, Clifton, Joseph and Oscar Brady.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Oct. 8 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at Garden of Memories, Metairie.
BREAUX
LAPLACE – Lawrence “Pee Wee” “Curly” Breaux Jr., 55, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 1. He was the father of Nikita Tobias, Lillian, Lydia and Jarvis Breaux, and the late Gerome Breaux.
He was also the son of Mary Lee Noble Breaux, and the late Lawrence Breaux Sr., and brother of Bruce, Branhigan Breaux, and the late Anthony Breaux.
He is also survived by six grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 7 at Providence Baptist Church No. 1, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery.
CORTEZ
LAPLACE – Maurice Lawrence Cortez, 58, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Nashville, Tenn., died Oct. 2. He was the husband of Deborah Duster Cortez and father of Debbie Culbertson, Peggy Thibodeaux, Tammy Bogart, Lisa, Anthony and Maurice Cortez Jr.
He was also the son of the late Freddie and Louvina Rome Cortez, and brother of Vernice Blanks, Mary Chadwick, Calvin, Clarence, Richard and Joe Cortez.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 7 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
MITCHELL
LAPLACE – Gladys Mitchell, 91, a native of Lucy and resident of Reserve, died Oct. 4. She was the wife of the late Rev. Hilton Mitchell Sr., and mother of Glythina Batiste, Hilton Jr., Donald, and the late John and Ronnie Mitchell.
She was also the daughter of the late Martha Taylor and Curly Hymes, and half-sister of the late Nancy and Smitty Hymes.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m., at Providence Baptist Church No. 1, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
ROCCAFORTE
LAPLACE – Anthony “Picalo” Roccaforte, 66, a native and resident of Garyville, died Sept. 30. He was the husband of Judy Reiser Roccaforte and father of Charles Roccaforte.
He was also the brother of Vita Martin, Patricia Migliore, Wanda Luguette, Mary Kliebert, Emma and Peter Roccaforte.
He was a bus driver for Riverside Academy and a former St. John the Baptist Parish Justice of the Peace. He was also a U.S. Army veteran serving as a radar technician and an honorary member of the Garyville Hunting Club. He was employed by Amoco as a lab supervisor.
Services were Oct. 6 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace.
STIPE
EDGARD – Cerelia L. “CC” Stipe, 78, a native and resident of Edgard, died Oct. 2.
She was the wife of the late Harry Stipe Sr., and mother of Loretta Smith, Julie Stipe, Roxanne McDaniel, and the late Andrew, Donald, Michael, Jeffery and Patrick Stipe.
She was also the daughter of the late Leona Harris and Walter Louis, and sister of Jenetta Butler, Viola Lewis, Gloria Sloan, Altis Louis, and the late Helen Washington.
She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
ZENO
VACHERIE – Mildred “Chuncha” Zeno, 79, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Oct. 5.
She was the wife of the late Auglopher Zeno, and mother of Errol Weber, Debra Spellman, Thyna Dumas, Sheila, Gregory, Lynell, Leslie, Micheal and Cai Zeno.
She was also the daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice Octave, and sister of Ronald Octave Sr., Ella Mae Harrison, Idelma Roussell nd Sedious Octave.
She is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m., at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
