LAPLACE – A LaPlace man previously arrested for allegedly fondling and improperly photographing a 6-year-old girl was recently charged with 25 additional counts of juvenile pornography, plus one count each of distributing pornography and indecent behavior with a juvenile, according to Kenner Police Dept. Public Information Officer Capt. Steve Caraway.
Richard Bartholomew, 37, of 2212 Williamsburg Drive, is now facing over 30 counts of child pornography.
Bartholomew was first arrested on Sept. 2 after the mother of the girl reported walking in on Bartholomew allegedly fondling and inappropriately photographing her daughter in the den of her University City home in Kenner.
At that time, Kenner Police charged Bartholomew with sexual assault and with seven counts of pornography involving a juvenile.
Bartholomew was then booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, where he remains.
Tuesday, Kenner Police officers executed a search warrant.
“The new charges stem from the search warrant. The search resulted in finding very sexually explicit photographs,” said Caraway.
Caraway said, Bartholomew was rebooked Wednesday while he was being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center from the first set of charges.
“He was still in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. He had never gotten out,” said Caraway, who added the 6-year-old girl is the only victim involved.
