Press Release
The descendants of Adam Alexander and Ernestine Papet gathered for a family reunion on April 24 at the Millet family home in Garyville. The children of Odette Alexander Millet hosted the event. Family members traveled from as far as Pensacola, Florida to reminisce about the past, re-connect with distant relatives and exchange information about their common ancestors. Approx. 30 descendants of Adam and Ernestine Alexander enjoyed a jambalaya dinner served on the grounds of Hope Plantation. Families represented included those of Charles, Amedee, Jeremiah, Elvire, Adele, Clare and Odette Alexander.
Several of the relatives did not know each other until they met at the reunion. Others recalled attending family picnics at the Millet home as children and playing on the banks of the Mississippi river with their cousins. Displays of old family photographs and the history of Hope Plantation were of particular interest. Many expressed the desire to make the Alexander family reunion an annual event.
