LAPLACE – Two LaPlace teen-agers will be featured this April on “Trading Spaces: Boys vs. Girls,” on Discovery Kids on NBC.
Erin Roger, 13, and James Wagner III, 14, swapped rooms for 48 hours, as each child redecorated the other’s bedroom. The episode, Number 10 in the series, will appear on a Saturday morning in April on NBC and weekdays on Discovery Kids Channel.
Erin, already a fan of the original “Trading Spaces” on The Learning Channel, originally applied to be a contestant for the show. The daughter of Veleria and Eric Rogers created a Japanese-themed room for her friend, working with cousin Nayo Andrews.
James, the son of Geanell and James Wagner Jr., worked with his friend, Paul Celestin, 11, to create a Mardi Gras theme for Erin’s room.
Working with a budget which sometimes topped $5,000 (unlike the original “Trading Spaces” usual $1,000 budget), both were able to delight the other with the results, as they worked with designer Scott Sicari. The ideas themselves, however, sprang from the imagination of the
James’s room included murals and a real pond with fish supplied by Paradise Pet Shop in LaPlace. Erin’s room was awash in purple, green and gold.
And all of LaPlace can see the final results this April.
