DON HAYWOOD, a native of Cambridge, Mass., is a U.S. Navy veteran, as well as a U.S. Army veteran. He and his family moved to LaPlace in late 1966 and soon found himself involved in volunteer activities. Among the highlights of his volunteerism are serving as fund raising chairman for the LaPlace Centennial, president of the 1984 World’s Fair St. John Day, Lions Eye Foundation and the St. John Ministry of Care. He currently works with St. John Civil Defense, St. John Honor Roll Roundup, State Litter Task Force and is the 2003 campaign chairman for United Way of St. John.
He is allegedly retired from DuPont.
