DESTREHAN – Two armed robberies struck Airline Drive businesses in this week, each resulting in little money taken.

On Jan. 18, Burger King was hit by two masked gunmen who struck as the restaurant was opening for business.

Capt. Patrick Yoes reported that when the victim arrived at work at 6:15 a.m., she was confronted by a black male wearing a dark hooded jacket, who ordered her inside at gunpoint.

An accomplice was wearing a dark shirt with a hood over his head and a white scarf over his mouth.

Once inside, Yoes continued, the gunman ordered her to disable the alarm and unlock the safe, then demanded money from a cash drawer. The gunman then grabbed the victim’s cell phone and the restaurant’s cordless phone before making his escape, joining his accomplice in fleeing.

The pair escaped in a green Hyundai Accent and headed west on Airline Drive.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Claude Adams at 783-1135 or Crime Stoppers at 877-903-STOP.

In the other incident, the Circle K convenience store in the 10400 block of Airline Drive on Wednesday fell victim to an armed robbery.

Yoes reported that a black male entered and asked for two packs of cigarettes. The man then pulled a butcher knife from beneath his shirt and demanded that the 21-year-old Kenner female clerk to give him money.
