Lady Comets scorch Lady Bulldogs

LUTCHER – The St. Charles Catholic Lady Comets destroyed the Lutcher Lady Bulldogs in 10-3A action Friday night. After jumping out to a 16-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Comets never looked back as they defeated Lutcher, 56-27.

Throughout the game, SCC was able to get easy baskets thanks to 16 Lutcher turnovers.

In the second period, with the Lady Comets leading 16-3, Mary Clement drained a three-point bucket to give St. Charles Catholic a 19-3 lead with 7:30 left to play. During the second quarter at least four different SCC players scored at least a field goal. In fact, the Lady Bulldogs were held scoreless during the second quarter.

In the third quarter, the Lady Comets would go on a 13-2 run to open the period. In addition, Lutcher was held scoreless until about one minute left in the third quarter.

Although it was too late, the fourth quarter was by far Lutcher’s best quarter. After Brandi Hoover made two free throws to give St. Charles Catholic a 52-16 lead, LaQunata Melancon nailed a jumper making the score 52-18.

In addition, to the end the game the Lady Bulldogs would go on a 9-2 run that concluded with free throws from Melancon. The Lady Comets will return to action Tuesday night when they host Donaldsonville. Lutcher, on the other hand, will see action again on Friday night when they play E.D White in Thibodaux. Lutcher’s next home game will be January 30 against St. James.
